PE and Sport Premium Funding

During past years, the government has allocated schools a sum of money, which is dedicated to enhancing and improving the provision of PE and Sport

We are delighted that they have announced the continuation of this PE and Sports Premium for the 2020/21 academic year.

The fund helps schools to deliver additional sporting opportunities to children and to raise the profile of sport within the school community and beyond.

Our key successes at Chardstock over the past two years include:

-          Achieving a Bronze award in the School Games Mark programme and

-          The delivery of special sporting theme days including wall climbing, majorettes, archery, fencing and street dancing.

-          The addition of new sports to our PE curriculum to broaden children’s learning.

-          PE intervention groups for selected children.

-          The introduction of free lunch clubs.

-          Collaborations with sporting stars and clubs including Somerset cricketer Josh Davey, UK Parkour Champion Alex Grinter and Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club.

-          Taking part in Acorn multi academy trust and East Devon sporting tournaments.

-          Sustained participation in The Daily Mile.

We are very proud of our successes but would still like to achieve more.
For 2020/21, our targets are:

-          To work towards obtaining the Silver award of School Games Mark.

-          To support our least active children and our children who have suffered the greatest impact due to Covid-19.

-          To offer professional development in teaching PE to all of our teachers.

-          To help talented children reach their potential in their chosen sport.

-          To create more links with local sports groups and clubs.

-          To broaden our PE curriculum to include as wide a range of sports as possible for our children.

Please see the attached document to see how we spent our PE and Sport Premium fund for 2019/20.
